Location coordinates (latitude/longitude) for UV index calculation
GPS location for current position and saved locations
App preferences (skin type, timer settings, theme mode) stored locally
Search queries for location search functionality
Altitude data for mountain/altitude calculations
Timer session history (start time, planned duration, end reason, skin type) stored locally for personalized features
No personal information, names, email addresses, or contact details

Data Usage

Your data is used exclusively for:

Calculating UV index for your current and saved locations
Determining sun exposure times based on your skin type
Providing timer reminders for sunscreen reapplication
Storing your preferences locally on your device
Location search and reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to place names)
Altitude calculations for mountain/outdoor activities
Weather data including temperature, precipitation, wind, and sunshine duration
App theme preferences (light/dark/auto mode)

Data Storage

All data is stored:

Locally on your device only
No cloud storage or external servers
Data is deleted when you uninstall the app

Third-Party Services

UV Timer uses external services for:

Weather data and UV index information
Location reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to place names)
Location search functionality
Only location coordinates are sent to these services
No personal information, names, or contact details are shared
These services have their own privacy policies

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the app
Access your stored data through device settings
Delete all data by uninstalling the app

Data Deletion

How to delete your data:

Data deletion: Uninstall the app
Select “I do not consent” in the consent screen
Clear app data in device settings
Remove saved locations individually in the app
Clear timer history via Settings → About → Clear sun history

Children’s Privacy

UV Timer does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13:

No personal information is collected from any users
App is suitable for all ages
Parents should supervise children’s use of the app

Notifications

UV Timer may request notification permissions to:

Send sunscreen reapplication reminders
Alert you about high UV levels
Provide weather updates
You can disable notifications in device settings

Data Retention

How long your data is kept:

Location data: Not stored, only used for API requests
App preferences: Stored locally until app uninstall
Saved locations: Stored locally until manually deleted or app uninstall
Timer history: Stored locally until manually cleared via Settings → About → Clear sun history, or until app uninstall
Search queries: Not stored, only used for API requests
No data is retained after app deletion

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights:

Right to know what personal information is collected
Right to opt-out of data sales (we don’t sell data)
